Position Overview
Under direction of the Director/Manager of Security Operations, plans, directs, supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of security personnel. Performs a wide variety of administrative and technical tasks. Ensures compliance with all company and department policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
Provides direct assistance to the Director/Manager of Security Operations in performing work of a specialized and administrative nature.Manages communications for emergency and non-emergency calls-for-service.Provides leadership, mentoring, coaching and education to develop and maintain an effective, well‐trained staff based on performance standards.Reviews/audits incident reports, logs, required forms, and related documents prepared by subordinates to ensure accuracy and timely completion; corrects or instructs officers to make corrections.Ensures security management is apprised of all significant and unusual events in a timely fashion.Assists security management in scheduling personnel to cover designated facilities and shifts.Recommends and assists in the implementation of department goals and objectives.Investigates complaints regarding the conduct of officers; assists department leadership in the disciplinary process and staff performance appraisals.Notifies, assists, and directs external and internal first responders; responds to requests from law enforcement and other outside agencies as needed.Works in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, the use of protective gear and devices, and awareness of personal safety and safety of others.Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.Attends training and other required company functions.Performs special duties as required and assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Education: Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D certificate supplemented by additional college level coursework and specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, emergency management and/or a related field; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and training.Experience: Five (5) years security, military, emergency management, law enforcement and/or other equivalent experience. Minimum of one-year supervisory and training experience in law enforcement, security and/or related field; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of knowledge and experience. Knowledge and experience with security systems, cameras and other security programs and equipment strongly preferred.Successful completion of employment background check. Has or is able to obtain a Kentucky Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon (CCDW) license.Strong knowledge of Security Operations policy and procedures.Demonstrated knowledge of firearms, ammunition and range safety standards.Ability to multi-task; focusing on long term projects while still accomplishing the day-to-day requirements of the job.Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and supervise a diverse group of individuals.Ability to identify staff training needs and to obtain necessary resources in order to satisfy those needs.Ability to analyze security and safety risks and make appropriate recommendations.Must have a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record that conforms to the company’s insurance policy and requirements.Must be able to meet and continue to meet all department, local and applicable state licensing requirements for commissioned/armed security officers.Ability to utilize rapid and effective judgment in responding to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force level.Effective interpersonal skills; specifically, for addressing potential conflicts.Effective communication skills to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form.Ability to understand and interface with different forms of technology (access control systems, camera systems, etc.)Ability to work overtime and all shifts (day, evening, night, weekends and holidays) as needed.Ability to take charge while responding professionally and calmly in emergency situations.Physical Demand Requirements
Must be able to assume a variety of bodily positions and postures possibly for long periods of time to include sitting, standing, bending, reaching, leaning, pushing, pulling, grasping, turning, twisting, lifting and walking. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move objects up to 50 pounds.Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with duty weapons through training and certification by the department firearms instructor. Must be able to operate vehicle in a safe and prudent manner.Must be able to react and move rapidly from a sedentary to active condition in response to environmental or duty-related situations or events.Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time to include time worked in excess of the normal daily day shift or rotating shift work.Must have auditory capability to hear alarms, monitors, intruders, etc.; must have olfactory capability to smell dangerous gases, fires, etc. Requires good eyesight (corrective lenses may be used) with accurate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
