Senior Security Officer

JOB SUMMARY:   

The Senior Security Officer position is responsible for protecting personnel, assets, and interests throughout the Company’s footprint. This position employs armed physical security tactics, screenings, highly technical security event monitoring and security event response, provides shift leadership and on-the-job-training to entry-level and mid-level Security Officers. This position also provides leadership in the absence of the Security Shift Team Leader. 
 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

High school diploma or equivalent; however, some college, undergraduate or associate degree in criminal justice, business administration, or related field is preferred.  

Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with electronic security systems. Ability to train others on electronic security equipment.  

2 years’ time in service with APC Corporate Security Uniform division preferred.

Broad knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local criminal laws.

In-depth knowledge and understanding of APC and Corporate Security’s policies and guidelines.

Detailed knowledge of the company’s facility layouts.

Detailed knowledge and understanding of the company’s emergency response procedures; demonstrated proficiency in the use of these procedures.

Exhibit professional appearance, demeanor, and effective interactions with all employee levels.

Excellent communication (written, verbal, non-verbal, and listening) skills; including observed leadership and decision-making skills.

The ability to effectively mentor and provide OJT to entry-level and mid-level Security Officers.

 

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Advanced Knowledge of Software House CCURE.

Advanced Knowledge of Avigilon Video Management System (VMS) Software.

Superior computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, multiple functional computer formats (in-house), etc.

Ability to work and make decisions with minimal direct supervision within the prescribed policies and procedures.

Ability to respond to complex technical inquiries regarding access application systems.

Ability to coordinate and liaison with Operating Company and Corporate Security groups.

Ability to evaluate and determine the appropriate action in response to Physical Security Perimeter (PSP) intrusion events.

Must be capable of using sound logic and reasoning to identify the alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals under highly stressful situations and perform various tasks simultaneously while working as a team.

Effective communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.

Ability to actively listen.

Must be able to multi-task and perform computer data entry while callers are on the phone.

Ability to stay current with relevant technology.

Ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Must demonstrate strong ethics and experience handling sensitive or confidential information.

Ability to learn and enforce policies and procedures.

Ability to direct & control vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Ability to use and maintain firearms certification and Alabama Pistol Permit; ability to qualify annually with company firearms.

Must have knowledge to proficiently maintain work schedules (24/7 operation).
