Security Manager
**Description:** Hyatt Regency Harare the Meikles Hotel is looking for a Security Manager responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, staff and the entire hotel property while managing security operations and protocols. **Operational** · Is conversant with every detail of the hotel’s layout and the location and function of sprinkler system, smoke detectors, firefighting equipment, emergency exits, fire control room, fire indicator panels, emergency evacuation, public address systems, emergency assembly area outside the hotel, fire/bomb threat and security procedures, hotel service lifts and first aid equipment. · Continuously monitors installed safety devices for emergency readiness and to patrol public areas, restaurants, guest floors, offices, plant rooms and all other areas of the hotel, ensuring safety, security and comfort of all guests, hotel personnel and property in and around the hotel. · Establishes operational procedures for activities such as fire prevention and firefighting, traffic control, guarding and patrolling physical property, orienting and monitoring of personnel involved with classified information, and investigation of accidents and criminal acts. · Handles investigation and reports all claims regarding thefts, accidents, injury, property damage, vandalism and trespassing from guests, visitors or hotel personnel with the assistance of local police if necessary. · liaise with security personnel on duty in monitoring and controlling the movement of all employees leaving and entering the hotel through the employee entrance. · Implements periodic locker searches as required together with the Human Resources Manager. · Records and strictly controls the issuance of all master keys and other keys within the hotel according to the established key policies and procedures and to report any discrepancy immediately to the General Manager and Director of Finance. · Coordinates ongoing ad-hoc patrols of guest floors, public areas, outlets, offices and all other areas within and around the hotel as specified in the Security Operations Manual. · Provides guard escorts to cashiers upon ending of shift from Outlet to hotel’s safe, and to general cashier from hotel to bank when necessary. · Reviews scheduled functions, group or VIP arrival events and discuss special instructions with all relevant departments. · Conducts vulnerability assessments in conjunction with Heads of Department to identify potential risk issues and liability factors, proposing corrective measures where necessary. · Establishes smooth working relationship with local authorities and liaises with them on all required regulations and activities. · To coordinate and conduct investigation concerning hotel safety. Drafting and implementation of guidelines, policies and procedures of Security and coordinating implementation of those standards and procedures. · To conduct on monthly basis Fire Drill trainings for Hotel Staff. · To conduct security trainings for security personnel and training on General Security awareness for entire hotel staff. · To represent the hotel for meetings on security issues with third-party companies, such as the organizers of meetings and events, protection of VIPs, as well as state agencies, security-related and / or the fight against terrorism. · To maintain physical and technical security of the hotel, to coordinate the development and implementation of contingency plans and anti-crisis measures and regulations regarding the hotel. **Administration** · Oversees and assists in the preparation and updates of the Security Departmental Operations Manual. · Conducts regular communications meetings and ensures that departmental briefings and meetings are effective and conducted as necessary. · Ensures the maintenance of the daily security Logbook. · Ensures the timely submission of all guest/employee incident reports. · Monitors the reports on any “Lost and Found” items. · To represent the hotel and to liaise with relevant legal structures, local fire inspection and other organizations related to the management of emergency situations. · To ensure timely reporting and investigation of all incidents with the guests / staff. **Customer Service** · Handles all guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to ensure problems are resolved satisfactorily. · Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships. **Financial** · Maximizes employee productivity through the use of multi-skilling, multi-tasking and flexible scheduling to meet the financial goals of the business as well as the expectations of the guests. · Prepares and regularly updates the Security Departmental Budget, in close cooperation with the Director of Finance ensuring targets are met and costs are effectively controlled. · Assists with the preparation of the annual Rooms Business Plan ensuring that Security Department objectives fully address business objectives of the hotel and needs of employees. · Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to financial record keeping, money handling and licensing are adhered to, including the timely and accurate reporting of financial information. **Personnel** · Establishes with the Safety and Health Officer and Learning Manager an effective in-house training course on Security and Fire Prevention. · Ensures that all new employees are briefed and/or trained in Fire Prevention/Fire Fighting procedures relevant to their position. · Recruits and selects all Security employees to follow hotel guidelines when recruiting and use a competency-based approach to selecting employees. · Ensures the punctuality and appearance of all Security employees, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department’s grooming standards. · Conducts annual Performance Development Discussions (Check -in conversations) with Security employees, supports them in their professional development goals. · Plans and implements effective training programmes for all Security employees in coordination with the Learning Manager and Departmental Trainers. · Develops the skills and effectiveness of all Security employees through the appropriate training, coaching, and/or mentoring. · Prepares and posts weekly work schedules, making sure that they reflect business needs and other key performance indicators. · Encourages employees to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognizing them for their contribution to the success of the operation. · Supports the implementation of Hyatt Purpose demonstrating and reinforcing Hyatt’s Values. · Ensures that employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to employee rules and regulations. · Ensures that employees follow all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to fire and hazard safety, and security. **Qualifications:** **Qualifications:** + Degree in Safety and Security Management or related field + At least 5 years' experience in Security Management, Law enforcement with a strong understanding of security principles and practices. + Demonstrated ability to develop and implement security policies, procedures and programs. + Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to lead and motivate, advise security and loss control team. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact at all levels of the organization. + Experience working in a Hospitality Industry (added advantage) + Able to manage surveillance/investigations + Ability to develop,
