Dexterra is looking to hire a full-time Security & Event Coordinator to join our team at the Forensic Service & Coroner Complex. The Security & Event Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, administration, and delivery of security services and event support within the facility. This role acts as a key point of contact for access control, security systems, parking management, and conference center operations, ensuring a safe, secure, and well-organized environment for staff, visitors, and event participants.

Job Description

 

Issue, cancel, and manage photo identification cards and security access passes in accordance with government security standards and Dexterra Group Inc.

Administer, maintain, and monitor the electronic access card system, including programming and modifying access permissions as authorized.

Support onboarding and orientation of new employees and contractors related to security access requirements.

Process access changes, replacements, and removals for employee, contractor, and visitor access credentials.

Capture photographs and produce secure photo identification cards.

Manage the issuance, tracking, and recovery of security passes, keys, and other security-related materials from authorized personnel.

Maintain accurate records and controls for all access devices and security materials.

Coordinate daily operational activities of the Security Team.

Liaise with the Security Manager and government representatives on security-related matters.

Schedule and coordinate security system maintenance and repairs with approved vendors.

Conduct periodic system integrity checks to ensure operational readiness and compliance.

Maintain security inventory and ensure timely reordering of approved supplies.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Manager.

Administer parking access through the parking management system, including enrollment and offboarding of authorized users.

Manage the parking management portal in accordance with site-specific policies.

Monitor parking payments, follow up on delinquent accounts, and maintain parking waitlists as required.

Ensure parking operations align with government facility rules and enforcement standards.

Act as the single point of contact for booking conference rooms, meeting rooms, and facility tours.

Issue booking confirmations outlining facility-specific requirements, including parking instructions, security and identification requirements, visitor access procedures, registration timelines, and government smoking policies.

Provide pre-event facility orientations, including emergency procedures, fire exits, washroom locations, and security compliance reminders.

Coordinate room configurations and setup based on approved event requirements.

Ensure audiovisual (AV) equipment is set up, tested, and operational prior to events.

Provide basic instruction on AV equipment usage to meeting and training leads.

Coordinate post-event cleaning services to maintain facility standards.

Submit service requests for maintenance and repairs through the Facilities Management (FM) help desk.

Coordinate and deliver operational support for the conference room within the government facility.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Must have 1-5 years Security Coordinator experience 

Must have 1-5 years Event Coordinator Experience

Demonstrated experience in security administration, facilities coordination, or government service environments.

Knowledge of access control systems and security protocols.

Strong organizational, documentation, and record-keeping skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Strong customer service skills while maintaining adherence to security and government policies.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment.

Must be eligible to work in a government facility.

Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.

Compliance with all site-specific government policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.

Proven experience as event coordinator A proven track record of organizing successful events
