Reporting to the Program Coordinator or designate, the Pediatric Mental Health Worker contributes to the provision of client-centered and family-focused care for children and youth hospitalized with mental health and/or substance use concerns by completing patient assessments, providing related counselling, and reporting clients' conditions, including reactions to medications and activity monitoring the patient/client's environment and changes in baseline behaviors and moods to ensure safety. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), or Child and Youth Counsellor (CYC), the Pediatric Mental Health Worker promotes a safe, healthy and non-threatening environment that instills a sense of dignity and self-respect, and motivates, assists and instructs clients with the activities of daily living.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceGraduation from a recognized degree program in Social Science plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
