Seats Systems Product Development Engineer

In this position... 

Seat systems engineers are responsible for being the lead interface to the vehicle program teams for deliverables, timing, and cost.

This includes leading and coordinating the processes used to meet the system level requirements of design, performance, cost, weight, quality, and craftsmanship, ensuring that the engineering deliverables in our Global Product Development System are met with excellence in support of program timing.

Seat systems engineers are responsible for communicating accurately at different layers of the organization including team members, managers, chiefs, etc.

You'll have...

Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.5+ years of experience in the automotive industry. Product engineering or Design and Release engineering experience/background preferred.Knowledge of the full product development cycle, including launch experience in at least one vehicle.Proficient communication and presentation skills required. Ability to communicate ideas concisely and effectively in verbal and written form, and to all levels of the organization.Advanced people skills required. Ability to get solutions and/or recommendations for issues aligned with cross functional teams, and willingness to take accountability of the issue during early stages of resolution. Ability to build effective teams and work relationships.Project management skills required. Ability to create and execute timing plans to ensure product delivery. Create and maintain issue resolution trackers to make sure the plans are followed

This position is a salary grade 7 - 8.

What you'll do...

Track and report program status for each stage of the complete GPDS (Global Product Development Process) gateways/milestones, from Product definition, Target setting, Supplier sourcing, Engineering development, Validation, and testing, and up to Launch and production stages.Lead tracking of status of seat supplier sourcing process from SOBA to CPA. Facilitate Team of 4 process and leads total seat system financial tracking/reporting.Lead seat program control meeting to manage engineering status report (ESR), quality/cost/weight/tooling status, and timing status to objective.Lead interface to the program change control for seat specific issues.Lead seats change control (run meeting, coordinate open issues, schedule/strategize change to be reviewed, and audit all CR’s/Notices/Alerts).Manage tools and processes to track and follow up engineering and program delivery.Write 2-pagers (change request forms) to request cost-only commercial changes and assist team members with design change 2-pagers for accuracy & completeness.Lead interface to program CPE-DF (chief program engineer - decision forum) for the approval of 2-pager approvals.Single point of contact for program OTG (open to go for production) meetings, ensuring all parts present and correctly sourced. Lead VBOM validation with the JIT to ensure all parts are released and flowing to JIT via EDI.Obtain all Functional and Governance Board approvals for supplier ED&TReview all major program published PDLs for seat and restraint impacts.Lead GPIRS (prototype seat/part orders) ordering for non-program builds.Lead prototypes build plan & funding to support Program DCV build and seat DV test builds.
