Be a part of this magical Team as we undergo our search for a new SEA LIFE Aquarist!_ **Job Purpose** The Aquarist 1 role works closely with the Aquarist II and Senior Aquarist performing job duties under guidance. This role will assist in the delivery of industry-leading, engaging and impactful displays, animal welfare standards and programs. It is achieved through effective working relationships with the Curator, displays team, and all other departments at SEA LIFE **Essential Job Functions** + Adopts a passionate approach to guest service by maximizing guest engagement with creatures. + Deliversworld-class aquatic and terrestrial displays by actively listening, communicating, and engaging withteam members, managers, and guests. + Follow the sites animal care protocols and programssuch asunderstanding the dietary and nutritional needs of animals, properpreparation,and storage of food. + Ability to handle and transport animals safely under guidance. + Basic understanding of animal welfare principles, animal behaviour, and husbandry development. + Ability to understand and perform the basics of animal training and enrichment. + Ability tolearn how toutilize all toolsand performbasic water chemistry analysis andspot basic trends in readings. (pH, Temperature, DO, NH3, NO2, NO3, Salinity, Alkalinity, Phosphates,TRO's,and any other parameters as required by site) + FollowStandardOperating Proceduresas needed. + Ability to suggest realistic featuresin tank themingthat are safe for the guestsandimmerse them in the display to create a memorable guest experience. + Abilitytounderstand the principlesbiocontainment and to eliminate contaminationusing industry standards. + Abilityto performdaily observations,monitoring for health issuesand commontypes of parasites. + Under guidance,understand theproper drug administration, storage, disposal, andshowtheability to carry out prescribed treatments. + Abilitytoperform a necropsy,identifyingorgans, any abnormalities,takessamples and record findings. + Ability tounderstand andperformoperational procedures ofbasic filtration and life support systems. + Ability to maintain proper recordsand maintenance schedules. + Ability to follow the policies and procedure to maintain health, safety and security matters pertaining to team, guests,and animals, adhere to reporting procedures. + Improvehealth and safety culture, reporting standards and resolution of safety issues/concerns. + Must be Open WaterCertifiedwith the ability to gain Rescue Certification. + Must pass a dive physical. + Deliver diving operations on site safely by working in adherence to the Global SEA LIFE Dive Policy. + Other job duties as assigned. **Other** **Responsibilities** + Ability toeducateteam membersabout creaturesas needed. + Can problem solve daily issuesas they arise. + Demonstrates ability to “think-on-feet”. + Demonstrates the Merlin Values at every opportunity. + Follow the SEA LIFE Animal Ethical Sourcing protocols and assisting in managing site collections to maximize animal welfare. + Support SEA LIFE’s conservation efforts and initiatives through education and involvement. **Health & Safety** Team Membersare responsibleforensuring allHealth, Safety & Securitymeasures arein line with the Group Policy (HS001).Theymust ensure thatthey follow all Company measure to ensure their own safety and thesafetyof others.
