Join the A to Z Communications team at Amazon, part of PXT's Content and Communications Experience Technology (CCXT) organization. Our team powers solutions for content management and communication to 1.5 million Amazonians across 67 countries and 31 languages, and is responsible for Amazon's core internal communication platforms.
As a Software Development Engineer on the Raindrops project, you'll design and build the next generation of digital signage technology that powers 25,000+ TVs across Amazon's global fulfillment centers. Raindrops is a strategic digital signage platform that displays critical information, announcements, and communications on physical screens throughout operations sites. This initiative connects corporate communications directly to the operations floor, providing real-time information to over a million associates. Associates across 22 countries rated digital signage at operations sites as the third most trusted source of news and information, behind A to Z and their managers.
You'll work on integrating Raindrops with our Mercury content platform (Amazon's internal communications authoring tool), enabling a "create once, publish everywhere" experience that amplifies communications across multiple channels. This role offers the unique opportunity to build software that has visible, physical manifestations throughout Amazon's operations network, directly impacting the associate experience every day.
Key job responsibilities
* Design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable software solutions for the Raindrops digital signage platform
* Integrate Raindrops with Mercury to create a unified communications platform that supports content authoring, targeting, and scheduling
* Develop features to support content delivery pipelines, terminal management, and audience targeting
* Build administrative tools for terminal provisioning, channel management, and content approval workflows
* Implement advanced features like dynamic content variables, auto-translation, and multimedia support
* Collaborate with UX designers and product managers to create intuitive authoring experiences
* Partner with operations teams to ensure seamless deployment and support of Raindrops terminals
* Create monitoring, alerting and operational tools to ensure system reliability
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions
A day in the life
You'll start your day checking system health and addressing any operational issues. During your morning standup, you might discuss progress on integrating Mercury's content management system with Raindrops terminals. Later, you'll collaborate with designers on new templates for vertical-oriented displays, then spend time implementing the content delivery pipeline that powers remote terminal updates. You might meet with Operations Internal Communications stakeholders to understand their workflow needs or join a technical design review for new audience targeting features. Throughout the day, you'll write high-quality code, conduct code reviews, and mentor more junior team members. You'll finish your day documenting your progress and planning your next tasks to build this critical communications infrastructure.
