The Sensory Consumer Science Manager role will manage sensory activities in collaboration with function project leaders. This involves managing sensory projects, supporting customers studies and participating in the product development cycle. You need to provide professional guidance and enable project leaders to define and progress towards measurable sensory targets.
Moreover, you will be involved in EUM function teams on main sensory projects. You also need to cooperate with marketing team for those initiative or reactive projects. 
Role will be based in Durban, South Africa but will support our Africa business, which might require the person to travel abroad.

Key responsibilities Participate in project meetings and work with cross-functional team members to define project objectives, determine appropriate sensory and consumer research methodologies, design research plan, coordinate tests, etc.
Independently analyse and interpret experimental data, provide technical recommendations, and report results orally or in written standard form.
Allocate/coordinate/review optimum resources for sensory evaluation studies and integrate results and knowledge.
Build up sensory expertise, tools and techniques; continuously seek for improving Sensory Evaluation methods and promote the use of Sensory Evaluation in projects.
Deliver sensory results on time.
Coordinate and execute sensory screening for new Kerry employees.
Train and maintain a pool of screened internal panelists to ensure the accuracy and competency of the sensory results.
Provide sensory training for factory Quality Assurance team.
Manage sensory requests from all EUM function departments.
Maintain a clean and organized laboratory work environment and supplies inventory. Qualifications and skills Bachelor’s degree in food science or equivalent.
Minimum 5 to 8 years of working experience in sensory evaluation within beverage, snacks, seasonings, sauces, dairy or FMCG in food industries.
Experience in consumer study is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge in different sensory evaluation methodologies.
Experience with statistical analysis software such as XLSTAT, SPSS, JMP, Eye Question, Compusense
