The RoleAs we continue to THRIVE as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Scientist III, Quality Control. The Scientist III, Quality Control, will be responsible for leading testing stability and final product release activities of Immunohematology reagents. This person will assure compliance with company standards and applicable regulatory agencies. He/She will lead failure investigations to help determine root cause, track and trend data, identify and suggest process improvements to improve business measures.
This is an onsite position in Pompano Beach, Florida.
The Responsibilities
Organizes and performs product release, stability and raw material testing. Performs testing within established timelines and in accordance with current specifications.
Documents results clearly and accurately. Interprets results by complying to appropriate specification requirements. Perform data trending of critical product, process information and release test results to be used in SPC/ trend analysis.
Maintains sufficient inventories off reagents and supplies
Assures compliance to company procedures, GMP, FDA, Safety and ISO regulations in all functions.
Participate in laboratory investigations, technology transfer, validation and R&D projects
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
The IndividualRequired:
Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or related field of study and minimum 5-yrs experience
Manual dexterity to handle instruments, repetitive motions and standing for long periods of time.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and challenges at the same time
Work independently and within a team environment
Preferred:
Knowledge of Immunohematology theory and practice
Familiarity with FDA, OSHA, ISO, cGMP
The Key Working InteractionsInternal: Manufacturing, Formulations, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering Product Support.
External: Instrument/Laboratory equipment support personnel – Communicate equipment needs e.g. service and calibration
The Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics are representative of an office, laboratory and manufacturing environment and may include handling of viral and bacterial hazards as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues and samples. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines. Weekends and overtime may be required.
The Physical DemandsPosition requires ability to lift up to 35 lbs., work within restricted areas confined by equipment. Up to 50% of time/work within a low humidity environment and/or extreme cold environment with potential exposure to biological, toxic and corrosive reagents; and up to 50% is required to work within the confinements of a cubical style office, and also within a laboratory setting. Walking, standing and sitting for longs periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position requires use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted. Essential functions are subject to change as other duties may be assigned.
Salary TransparencyThe salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including: education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, its is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. A salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays.
