Responsibilities and Authorities
The Scientist II, Molecular Biology will have responsibility in planning and supporting scientific activities in the development of internal new product introductions (NPI). Housed within Thermo Fisher Scientific Singapore R&D, the successful candidate will provide technical expertise on a project level and will be expected to integrate into a dynamic and multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proactive attitude and excel in the fast-paced biotechnology industry. As a member of the product development team, the candidate should have the technical skills and integrity to lead tasks and achieve diligent quality outcomes to meet project timelines and align with business requirements.
1. Development of qPCR, NGS and/or CE assays for new product introduction and support sustaining activities for existing products on the market.
2. Design and execute experiments independently, troubleshoot, analyze data, interpret results and keep a detailed record of experiments.
3. Write procedures, protocols and reports.
4. Exercise independent judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
5. Recommend and implement changes to processes, procedures or products internally within the department.
6. May lead training and guidance of junior team members.
7. Adhere to internal policies and procedures, as well as external quality standard.
Qualification
1. Required - Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or similar (at upper second-class level) with 4 years’ experience,
2. Or Master’s degree with 2-3 years’ experience,
3. Or Ph.D fresh graduate.
Competencies Preferred
1. Good practical knowledge of molecular biology techniques.
2. Possess good laboratory and documentation practices.
3. Driven to deliver quality results on time and in a highly ethical and professional manner.
4. Demonstrated resourcefulness, self-motivation, systematic and analytical thinking, directed toward achieving objectives.
5. Experiences in developing molecular in vitro diagnostics assays and knowledge of ISO13485 is a plus.
