Job Purpose
We are looking for a skilled **Scientist** to join our team at Weatherford. In this role, you will be responsible for tool design, tool characterization, and data analysis using machine learning techniques. The ideal candidate will have a cross-functional skillset blending data science, simulations and nuclear experimentation. Expertise in applied mathematics, mathematical modeling and signal processing is a plus.
Roles & Responsibilities
OPERATIONS
+ Tool physics
+ Evaluate nuclear detectors for downhole applications
+ Use modeling code to design nuclear logging tools and predict tool response
+ Develop logging tool characterization test plans and assist with testing and tool experimentation
+ Evaluate tool response modeling using MCNP
DATA SCIENCE
+ Design custom tools to optimize data mining, cleaning, validation and analysis tasks
+ Analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data to identify trends and patterns
+ Develop and apply custom data models and algorithms to data sets, ensure data accuracy
+ Automate processes using AI tools and programming
GENERAL
+ Provide technical expertise to assist the broader science community
+ Resolve project-related problems within their area of expertise
Experience & Education
REQUIRED
+ Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Data Science or Physics
+ 5+ years’ experience in the Oil and Gas industry
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent communication and presentation abilities
+ Proficiency in managing and interpreting large datasets
+ Knowledge of tool physics and tool characterization
+ Experience with machine learning techniques
+ Experience with statistical and data mining techniques
PREFERRED
+ Experience using C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, R, SQL
+ Experience using MCNP simulation software
+ Expertise in areas such as formation evaluation, production logging and well integrity.

+ Self-starter. Curious. Ability to research independently and integrate knowledge from various sources into working solutions.
PREFERRED
+ Active participation in technical societies, forums and open-source communities is a plus.
+ Published technical papers, presented in industry conferences.
