Business area introduction
European Securitised Products Group (“SPG”) – the business provides asset-backed securities underwriting, structuring and placement in the capital markets, as well as short to medium-term non-recourse secured financing solutions to clients via the Group’s balance sheet, based on a broad range of assets including trade receivables, credit cards, consumer loans, auto loans and leases, mortgages and SME loans.
The SPG team has broad responsibility for securitisation across the whole European region for Santander CIB; it comprises 25 colleagues, the majority of which are based in London. The team has substantially expanded its front-line risk management capabilities for its securitised lending portfolio over the last two years and is now looking to add a new Associate to support the growth of the business.
Key activities
Lead the first line credit performance monitoring & surveillance for SPG financing business across EuropeAssist the head of the team in assessing & signing off new securitised lending opportunitiesAdvise front line origination in preparing annual credit reviews, assessing waivers and restructuring requests from borrowers & addressing ad-hoc requests from the credit function / SPG senior managementOversee the management of the monthly credit attestation process & the preparation of portfolio quarterly performance reviewsProduce balance sheet and revenue forecasts & performance MI for the businessBe responsible for the maintenance of all internal desk procedures manualsAssist the head of the team in defining and managing the risk appetite for the SPG businessKey liaison with the London & Madrid middle-office and back-office functions across financing facilitiesLiaison with finance teams in London and Madrid, the credit portfolio management and risk management functions across European SPG operationsActive involvement in the design, structuring and future management of a new ABCP conduitWhat we’re looking for
Experience either in a securitisation credit risk, portfolio management or secured / asset backed lending role, either in a bank, rating agencies or on the buy-sideCandidates with experience in underwriting credit risk associated with retail assets (mortgages, credit cards, consumer / auto loans) or trade receivables / SME loans would be particularly of interestExperience of core loan and/or bond booking systems as well as credit management systems helpfulGood understanding of risk, regulatory and compliance frameworks as well as ability to address areas of concern through actionsStrong communication and collaboration skills across various stakeholders at different seniority levels, and ability to work effectively as a teamAbility to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks with limited supervisionStrong attention to details and ability to produce consistently high-quality deliverableAbility to build strong partnerships with internal stakeholdersA “can-do” and pro-active attitudeHighly numerate with strong financial modelling skills using Excel/VBAEducated to Degree level in a relevant subject (Engineering, Finance, Science, and Mathematics)What else you need to know
This role is based in our Triton Square office in London, conveniently located within walking distance from Euston Station and Warren Street Station.
