School Speech Language Pathologist

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is a vital member of the educational team, responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders in students. This role ensures that each student receives individualized therapy services that align with their educational goals and physician’s orders.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Comprehensive Evaluations: Conduct formal and informal assessments to identify speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders.
+ Individualized Therapy Plans: Develop and implement treatment plans based on evaluation results, physician’s orders, and each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
+ Direct Therapy Services: Provide evidence-based speech and language therapy to students in individual or group settings within the school environment.
+ Progress Monitoring: Document therapy sessions, maintain accurate records, and track student progress toward established goals.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, special education staff, school psychologists, and parents to support communication needs across academic and social settings.
+ IEP Participation: Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, providing input on speech and language goals and progress.
+ Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all services meet state and federal regulations, district policies, and professional standards.
+ Student Advocacy: Promote communication access and inclusion for students with speech and language challenges.

Minimum Requirements:
+ Active SpeechLanguage Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of assignment required
+ Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-LanguagePathology (CCC-SLP) preferred and may be required by state/contract.
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
