Position Overview
The School Social Worker or School Counselor will play a key role in developing and implementing IHPs/IEPs for students requiring social-emotional and behavioral support within a specialized educational setting. You will work closely with a team of School Social Workers to provide classroom support, case management, and intervention strategies tailored to each student’s needs.
Key Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to contribute to IHP/IEP development and implementation.
+ Provide direct social work or counseling services to students with cognitive and intellectual disabilities.
+ Support classrooms and staff in behavior intervention, crisis response, and social-emotional development.
+ Maintain compliance with state, federal, and professional standards of practice.
+ Document services and progress in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
+ Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker (SSW) or School Counselor endorsement, as required by state, contract, or facility.
+ MSW or LCSW may be required depending on state or contractual criteria.
+ Experience working with cognitive and intellectual disabilities (not general education-only experience).
+ Current CPR certification, if applicable.
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, if applicable.
+ Current health certificate per contract or state regulations.
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
+ Minimum age: 18 years.
