School Psychologist
Salary: $3685 / Week School Psychologist (Grades TK–6) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week Location: Orcutt, CA Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist to support students in transitional kindergarten through 6th grade. The ideal candidate will have experience in both assessment and counseling, a strong understanding of special education law, and a commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:Administrative Duties: + Prepare legal and administrative documents in compliance with the Education Code (e.g., IEPs, 504 plans). + Ensure proper documentation for state and federal funding related to special education and Medi-Cal services. + Collect and analyze data to support school improvement, student outcomes, and accountability. + Support the implementation of school-wide prevention programs that promote a positive school climate. + Promote policies that enhance student safety and reduce incidents of bullying, harassment, and violence. + Provide crisis response services, including leadership, direct support, and coordination with community resources. + Collaborate on the development and implementation of comprehensive school mental health programs. + Supervise and mentor school psychology and counseling interns. + Serve as the administrative designee for IEP/504 meetings in the absence of the principal. + Initiate special education referrals and coordinate multidisciplinary evaluations. + Integrate and analyze assessment data from various specialists into a comprehensive evaluation report. Clerical Support: + Develop assessment plans and assist with scheduling and notifying families and staff of IEP meetings. + Prepare reports, interagency referrals, and review IEP documentation for accuracy. Counseling & Consultation: + Collaborate with families, teachers, staff, and external agencies to address students’ academic, emotional, social, and behavioral needs. + Support staff in evaluating interventions, monitoring progress, and interpreting data. + Recommend academic and behavioral interventions based on assessment results. + Provide guidance on district policies and special education law using culturally responsive and non-discriminatory practices. + Develop and support implementation of behavior intervention plans. + Offer consultation on student retention decisions. Assessment & Evaluation: + Conduct comprehensive assessments of cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and academic functioning using non-discriminatory tools. + Determine eligibility for 504 plans and special education services. + Write detailed psychoeducational reports in compliance with the Education Code. + Participate in general education Student Study Team (SST) meetings to review records, interpret data, and provide recommendations. + Conduct risk and threat assessments as needed. + Perform Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop reports in accordance with IDEA and SELPA guidelines. + Assist with GATE assessments upon request.
