School-Based Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) Location: Chicago, IL Pay: $50–$55 per hour Hours per Week: 32 (Part-time; potential full-time option available) Assignment Duration: ASAP / Mid-January through End of School Year Daily Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Grade Level: Elementary Type: Maternity Leave Coverage Position Summary A Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) is needed to support elementary-aged students for a maternity-leave assignment in a school-based setting. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide high-quality speech and language services aligned with student needs and established treatment plans. This role begins mid-January (flexible for an ASAP start) and continues through the end of the school year. The schedule is part-time, 3–4 days per week (32 hours weekly), with the option to increase to full-time if preferred. Key Responsibilities + Provide direct and indirect speech-language services under the guidance of the supervising SLP. + Implement treatment plans and assist with monitoring and documenting student progress. + Prepare materials and support therapeutic programming. + Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and professional standards. + Assist with screenings and other tasks permissible within the SLPA scope of practice. + Collaborate professionally with staff and families to support student communication development. + Follow all federal, state, and professional standards of practice. Minimum Requirements + Associate degree from an accredited SLPA program OR bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders. + Minimum of 100 hours of supervised fieldwork or equivalent clinical training. + Active SLPA certification or licensure in Illinois. + One (1) year of prior SLPA experience preferred. + Compliance with all applicable state, federal, and professional practice standards. + Completion of TB test (questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, as applicable). + Current health certificate if required by state or contract. + Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements. + Must be at least 18 years old.
