Summary:
Schedules inpatient or outpatient surgical procedures and ensures all necessary equipment and details are included.
Coordinates patient surgeries, related testing, and follow-up appointments
Coordinates with other specialty & sub-specialty surgical offices to schedule co-cases.
Responsible for obtaining prior authorizations for surgical procedures
Position Responsibilities:
Cross-trained to handle office assistant tasks
Responsible for updating and sending out surgical shared file weekly
Responsible for verifying that the patient’s insurance is up to date, in proper order, and applied to the surgical event that is being scheduled
Liaising with physicians, clinical staff, hospital departments and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth coordination of the patient’s surgery
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
Previous surgical scheduling experience.
Meticulous with excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
Highly reliable and conscientious
Understanding of medical terminology.
Computer user proficiency (data entry).
Clear communication skills.
Professional phone demeanor.
Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
