Position Description
Primary purpose:
This post is for a SCADA Controller opening with a hiring range from a level 1 to a level 5 dependent on experience and skill set. The successful candidate will serve a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operations of Yates field compression and production facilities.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Continuous surveillance of compression and production facilities. Troubleshooting of compression equipment and field production operations. Remote shutdown and startup of field equipment (pumps, vapor recovery units, etc).Compiles daily operations reports. Daily monitoring of equipment to identify operational problems indicated through PLC or DCS alarm systems. Lockout/ Tag out and safe work permitting duties for maintenance work. Interact with contract personnel. Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns. Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork. Provide oral and written communication of activities to appropriate personnel. Write Maintenance Work Orders as needed. Operate company vehicles during daily activities. Strict adherence to all site specific and Kinder Morgan policies and proceduresProactively completes all required training and EHS KPIs.Provide plant and field compression operator relief to maintain competency in field.*Job level will commensurate with experience and knowledge. Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
Proven track record in operating oil and gas equipment in a safe and efficient manner.Basic math skillsSelf-starter and high drive for resultsMust be able to handle multiple tasksStrong teamworkStrong communication skillsStrong troubleshooting skillsGood computer skillsMust maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus on attention to detail, and follow work rules.
Physical demands:
Work 12-hour rotating (days/night) shifts.Extended hours during upset conditions are possible.Be available for call-out, overtime and fulfill other scheduling needs as required by the company.Requires working on holidays when a holiday falls on a scheduled workday.Tasks are performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions in daylight & darkness.May be required to stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs or ladders, use hand tools, and reach with hands and arms.Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Field compression and production vessels and piping systems contain H2S and hydrocarbon gases that are flammable and may be explosive under certain circumstances.Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
