Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.Prior experience in a machine shop or heavy industrial environment.Ability to calculate weights and lengths, including understanding decimals and fractions.Experience with basic hand toolsAbility to stand for long shifts and handle materials up to 50 lbs.Follow work instructions, routers, and process control requirements to ensure consistent productionProgram, adjust, and troubleshoot equipment to maintain optimal performancePerform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)Ensure compliance with AS9100 and internal quality systemsAccurately record production, inspection results, and non-conformancesMaintain production efficiency while minimizing scrap and reworkConduct basic equipment checks and support preventive maintenance activitiesMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S standardsSafely operate material handling equipment such as cranes, manipulators, and forklifts
Preferred Qualifications

Howmet Engine Systems has an immediate opening for a Bandsaw & Abrasive Saw Operator (Raw Material Prep), to assist in the manufacturing process at our facility in Rochester, NY. Our current need is 12-hour shifts, 5pm-5am.
Key Responsibilities
Setup and operate industrial horizontal/vertical bandsaws and abrasive saws to cut various alloys (steel, titanium, nickel) to length and weight.Ensure every cut billet is correctly identified with heat numbers, material grades, and job codes to maintain AS9100 compliance.Perform frequent in-process inspections using calipers, tape measures, and scales to ensure billets meet "cut-to-weight" or "cut-to-length" tolerances.Monitor blade tension, coolant flow, and abrasive wheel wear. Perform routine blade changes and basic preventive maintenance.Safely load raw bar stock (often 10-20+ feet long) onto saw tables using overhead cranes, forklifts, or roller conveyors.Track material yield and manage "drops" (remnants) to minimize scrap and ensure efficient use of expensive alloys.Work closely with the Saw Shop Lead and Forging team to ensure a steady "feed" of material for the daily production schedule.
