**Your role and responsibilities**
As a Package Consultant at IBM, you will design, develop, and re-engineer complex application components and integrate software packages to drive mission-critical client results. You will apply a blend of consultative skills and technical expertise to facilitate the hybrid cloud and AI journey for global organizations.
A SAP Data Migration Consultant plays a vital role in ensuring data integrity and consistency during the implementation of SAP projects by managing the end-to-end migration lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Strategy & Project Planning
*
Develop and execute comprehensive data migration strategies for SAP Hybrid (Selective Data Transition, Bluefield, Rapid Move) or traditional Brownfield/Greenfield projects.
*
Define scope, objectives, and deliverables while identifying and mitigating risks to ensure projects stay within timeline and budget.
*
Implement "early warning systems" to proactively address potential delays in the migration timeline.
2. Data Assessment & Quality Management
*
Assess the readiness and quality of legacy data, defining robust rules for cleansing, enrichment, and validation.
*
Oversee data mapping and transformation logic specifically for EAM data structures.
*
Implement data modeling and quality management techniques to ensure accurate data reflects in the target system.
3. Technical Execution & ETL
*
Design, develop, and execute migration programs and scripts using tools like SNP CrystalBridge or SAP standard migration tools.
*
Coordinate the end-to-end Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) process from legacy systems to SAP.
*
Troubleshoot technical migration activities promptly to resolve data-related issues.
4. Testing & Validation
*
Design and execute robust test plans, including unit, integration, and User Acceptance Tests (UAT), to guarantee functionality after migration.
*
Validate migrated data against business and regulatory requirements to ensure absolute data integrity.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration & Mentorship
*
Partner with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and validation criteria.
*
Collaborate with global experts, including the off shore centre and regional project teams, to maintain alignment on delivery.
*
Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and analysts to foster an efficient working environment.
6. Documentation, Training & Compliance
*
Maintain comprehensive documentation of migration processes, mapping rules, and validation criteria.
*
Provide training and support to business users on migration tools and offer post-migration support.
*
Ensure all activities comply with data security measures and organizational policies to protect sensitive information.
7. Continous Improvement:
* Identify improvement opportunities for improving data migration processes and methodologies
* Stay updated with the latest SAP data migration tools and technologies
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in SAP Data Migration projects (Greenfield, Brownfield, or Hybrid/Selective Data Transition).
* Functional Expertise: Strong understanding of EAM data structures and business processes.
* Platform Knowledge: Proven expertise in SAP S/4HANA migration using SNP tools (such as CrystalBridge) or standard SAP tools.
* Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments.
