Sanitation Technician

The role functions as a member of a team that is directly responsible for the sanitary conditions of the site. This Sanitation Technician will complete daily specified tasks and PMs in assigned areas in a safe and efficient manner as well as perform any sanitation related duties as required by the Master Sanitation Schedule. Sanitation Technicians must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and continuous improvement. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal, and team building skills to support site objectives. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent requiredEffective communication skills, both written and verbalStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to plan work daily, work independently and be a self-motivator Ability to work as part of a team and effectively interact with other departments and outside vendors Ability to learn advanced pest control principles Ability to work in environmental extremes (hot/cold), elevated heights, in confined spaces, around dust, and with chemicalsKnowledge of hazardous chemicals and sanitation equipmentUnderstanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and Quality and Food Safety requirementsAbility to lift 50 lbs.Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedulesCurrent forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification

What will be your key responsibilities?

Perform all assigned activities and job tasks as directed by supervisor in a safe and efficient manner to meet or exceed daily safety, quality, food safety, and production goals.Perform routine and non-routine cleaning of specific pieces of equipment, buildings, and site.Maintain accurate records of PMs, other sanitation activities, and scrap destructionComplete all documentation in an accurate/quality matterUnderstand production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventories.Complete all required safety, quality, and food safety trainingAdhere to all GMP’s (bump caps, ear plugs, safety shoes, uniforms, etc.)Additional duties and responsibilities throughout the plant as assigned by SupervisorPerform cleaning as per the Master Cleaning and Shutdown/Start-up Cleaning Schedules Maintain control over the microbial environment in plant through detailed cleaning of plant equipment and surfaces, sanitation of high-risk areas, and management of the environmental sampling program, adjusting efforts to minimize countsPerform preventive maintenance on all sanitation equipmentProvide early detection of equipment degradation or malfunction throughout the plant Maintain grounds and perimeter of plant along with roof and roof mounted equipment Communicate any quality and food safety concerns to the siteCommunicate equipment and facilities defects to maintenance departments

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: 

Provides coaching to plant associates on Good Manufacturing Practices, sanitation and pest controlCoordinate supplies, equipment and contractor support for plant sanitation and pest control Flow to help clean up with operations as neededHelp create new or improve existing processes for cleaning and sanitationAssist in training Technicians on proper cleaning and sanitation proceduresOther similar duties as assigned
