Job Description
Within the Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician will work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs. This role involves handling various laboratory tasks and ensuring the quality and safety of the samples processed.
ResponsibilitiesPerforming ringing, sieving (including International Soils), crushing, and splitting under direct supervision.Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision.Maintaining own production logs.Conducting general cleaning duties to ensure basic lab cleanliness.Assisting with layout duties/tasks when necessary.Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.Inspecting equipment and informing senior employees if adjustments are required.Ensuring analytical quality of samples.Observing established safety regulations and complying with all health and safety policies and procedures.Performing other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsGood hand-eye coordination.Good organizational skills.Ability to work independently or as part of a team.Basic alpha/numeric comprehension.Basic English communication skills (written and verbal).Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in a mineral lab or manual labor in a warm environment.Ability to match numbers.Production experience.Comfortable wearing PPE and a respirator.Ability to work in an environment that isn't temperature controlled.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Work Environment
The position involves working in a hot and dusty environment. Candidates should be comfortable wearing PPE and a respirator. Shifts are scheduled as four 10-hour shifts, with options from Wednesday to Saturday or Sunday to Wednesday, starting at 5:30 am and ending at 4:00 pm. The role may require sitting or standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.39 - $18.39/hr.
