Sample Receiving Technician
Job Title: Sample Receiving TechnicianJob Description

The Sample Receiving Technician plays a crucial role in a laboratory that tests environmental samples, such as soil, water, and air. This position involves logging samples into the computer system and ensuring they are routed to the appropriate department for analysis.

ResponsibilitiesReceive and unload incoming samples or consignments in accordance with DOT regulations.Verify receipt against Chain of Custody (COC) and match it to the corresponding quote, noting any discrepancies daily.Ensure COC’s are accurate, complete, and correct, seeking resolution for discrepancies.Log samples into the Lab Management System daily to assign a lot number for tracking purposes and distribute paperwork to Project Managers.Label samples for identification by the assigned lot number and deliver them to appropriate labs for analysis daily.Prepare bottle kits daily for clients to collect samples and return for analysis, following EPA and DOT requirements.Forward samples to other laboratories as needed, following DOT regulations, for tests not performed at the location.Dispose of spent samples, waste, and other potentially hazardous materials according to established procedures.Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures daily to ensure readings are within SOP guidelines.Clean and organize the department daily to promote a clean, safe work environment and smoother operations.Maintain and promote safety, conducting all operations in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.Stock and supply inventory daily and assist with inventory of supplies to maintain adequate material quantities.Perform splits and composites as needed upon request.May perform courier duties to support lab and client needs.Assist in the maintenance of walk-in coolers to facilitate locating samples.Ship empty coolers back to clients and other laboratories, logging all outgoing coolers to maintain inventory.Conduct all client interactions professionally and appropriately.Perform other duties as determined by local management.
Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Computer skills.Organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, and follow instructions.
Additional Skills & QualificationsAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.Ability to lift 50 lbs (when coolers are full with samples), stand at your workstation, bend down, and walk into refrigerated storage rooms.Detail-oriented, organized, calm, with strong communication and critical thinking skills.Willingness to ask questions if unsure, hard-working, self-motivated, able to get along with a team.Experience in fast-paced environments, such as restaurants and fast food, is beneficial.
Work Environment

This position involves receiving coolers of samples from clients and couriers, interacting with them, filling out and taking the Chain of Custody form, and tracking multiple samples. You will be required to scan forms and samples, move samples within the facility (including a walk-in refrigerated area), pack bottles and coolers, and manage the supply room and inventory. The work environment is fast-paced and requires standing, bending, and lifting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
