Sales & Use Tax Analyst
Description This individual is responsible for supporting many aspects of the Sales and Use Tax function. This position encompasses assisting with and supporting state/local sales and use tax audits, processing and maintaining customer/vendor resale and exemption certificates, performing taxability research, marketplace facilitator reconciliations and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail, decision making skills, and the ability to work well with others. • Review unapproved sales orders to ensure that the correct taxes are received on all orders. • Review drop-shipping customer orders daily, this includes contacting customers for payment of additional taxes due. • Reconcile monthly sales reports to Avatax platform and Sales & Use tax returns prepared by Avalara. • Prepare and reconcile Sales & Use tax payable transactions. • Prepare and upload Use Tax transactions to Avalara Avatax. • Assist with Marketplace Facilitators setup and maintenance, this includes monthly reconciliations of transactions. • Perform sales tax testing related to E-commerce projects as needed. • Prepare estimates and filing for the Texas Freeport Exemption quarterly and yearly. • Assist with the maintenance of sales & use tax exemption and resale certificates received from customers. • Review and validate customer exemption certificates in CertCapture. • Work on Certcapture campaigns to maintain current resale certificates for customers. • Setup customer exemption certificates in Certcapture. • Communicate with customers to obtain valid exemption documentation. • Work with internal customers to support inquiries related to sales and use taxes. • Process Salesforce tax exemption approval requests. • Support sales & use tax audits. • Obtain and review Bill of Lading and other shipping documents for international customers. • Perform special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned. Requirements · Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or Accounting · 1-3 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience · Excellent mathematical, analytical and computational skills · Ability to work independently and as part of a team · Ability to apply strong problem-solving techniques · Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required · Strong analytical skills, with the ability and drive to solve problems and suggest proactive solutions · Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required- ability to create formulas including V-lookups a plus · Experience with CertCapture is a plus Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
