This role manages a national sales team calling into clinical settings. The Sales Manager should have a strong understanding of the unique drug screening requirements of the diverse laboratory customers including commercial reference laboratories, independent laboratories, physician office laboratories, treatment centers, criminal justice facilities and hospitals to guide and direct the sales team on sales performance. The Sales Manager is accountable for leading the day-to-day commercial execution of the sales team, ensuring operational excellence across all sales processes. This role is focused on driving continuous improvement, optimizing workflows, and implementing scalable, efficient sales strategies. Key responsibilities include executing and operationalizing key strategic initiatives, both internally and in the field, to support business growth. The Sales Manager serves as a critical liaison between Sales and cross-functional teams including Commercial Leadership, Finance, Marketing, Customer Service and Technical Operations—ensuring alignment, transparency, and collaboration across departments. This position requires a proactive leader who can translate strategy into action, coach and develop sales talent, and deliver measurable results through data-driven decision-making. **What You’ll Work On** + Leadership of team of sales account managers + Provides coaching and development for the sales team + Translates business goals into actionable outcomes and results + Partner closely with sales representatives to build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with customers. Partners with sales representatives to structure deals that deliver value to both the customer and the business. Oversees the financial aspects of customer deals, including pricing, contract terms, and profitability. + Communicates and works with customers and stakeholders in Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, and Technical Operations. + Makes commercial decisions with high risk and consequence to the business. + Manages performance of staff towards department and Company goals, including feedback on performance, appraisals, recommendations for merit increases or necessary disciplinary actions, communication to employees on performance, etc. + Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships. **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree required + 5+ years sales experience in laboratory services, laboratory product sales, and the diagnostic industry + Knowledge of the substance abuse or toxicology market + Proven track record of successfully acquiring new customers, managing clients and/or accounts on long term basic + Master ability in technical products sales, conduct, written and verbal communication + Demonstrated strength in training + Demonstrated strength in strategic thinking, decision making, teamwork, initiative, driving the business + Ability to understand and implement field sales directives and management policies + Travel approximately 75% + Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and problem solve + Excellent oral, written and presentation skills; intermediate to advance knowledge of MS office suite of tools **Preferred Qualifications** + 3+ years sales leadership experience + Highly skilled in the art of negotiation + Diligent and proactive results-driven personality + Experience leading teams through organizational or process changes, including new product launches or territory realignments. **Learn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives:** www.abbottbenefits.com (http://www.abbottbenefits.com/pages/candidate.aspx) Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life. The base pay for this position is $97,300.00 – $194,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
