Sales Engineer

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field 

5+ years of experience in a technical sales, pre-sales, or solutions engineering role

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S person as an U.S Citizen, U.S Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.Strong understanding of machining processes (CNC, manual machining, fabrication, etc.).Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer‑relationship skills.Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.Proficiency with quoting tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.Ability to translate technical features into business valueStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsWillingness to travel as needed

Position Summary

The Sales Engineer serves as the technical expert and commercial link within the organization. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities, understanding customer requirements, preparing accurate quotes, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to deliver custom solutions. This role combines technical knowledge with strong communication and relationship-building skills to support pre-sales activities, demonstrate product value, and drive revenue growth. The Sales Engineer translates complex technical concepts into clear business benefits and ensures proposed solutions align with customer requirements and company capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.Identify customer needs and translate them into manufacturable solutions.Conduct on‑site visits, presentations, and technical discussions to support customer projects.Develop and pursue new business opportunities within target industries.Review customer drawings, specifications, and requirements to determine feasibility.Manage RFP/RFI responses and technical documentationWork closely with estimating engineer to prepare accurate cost estimates, quotes, and proposals based on materials, labor, and machining processes.Collaborate with engineering and production teams to validate manufacturability and lead times.Recommend design improvements or cost‑saving alternatives when appropriate.Respond to technical questions and provide details product expertise.Communicate project status, changes, and technical details to customers and internal teams.Ensure customer expectations are clearly defined and met throughout the production process.Support scheduling and planning by providing accurate forecasts and order details.Maintain a strong understanding of machining processes, materials, tolerances, and job shop capabilities.Maintain knowledge of industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies.Provide feedback to leadership on customer needs and market opportunities.Collaborate with Legal to ensure all regulatory and contractual requirements are met.Other duties as assigned.
