A Sales Consultant must enable our Guests, and their team to have a safe, happy, and productive experience every day. Sales Consultants should increase store wine and spirits sales by providing a high level of personalized service, sharing wine and spirits knowledge with Guests and Team Members, and performing the following duties:
Responsibilities:
Assist in making appropriate wine and spirit recommendations to Guests and assist Team Members to further increase their knowledge of wine and spirits.
Ensure standards of service are met by greeting and providing excellent service to all Guests.
Participate in all mandatory company-sponsored classes, including online training, attend offsite meetings as required, assist with resets, remodels, new store openings, and wine tastings at other stores.
Train and mentor the Assistant Sales Consultant; lead product knowledge education for all Team Members.
Make wine and spirit recommendations to Guests based on the style requested or the event to be held.
Stay current on required training, company policies, and product knowledge to ensure compliance and provide an informed, high-quality Guest experience.
Effectively market wine and spirits to Guests via several different marketing channels, including in-store product reviews and in-store displays and signage.
Restock and replenish the sales floor with product from the stockrooms and ensure all posted price points are correct; support store operations as needed.
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the property, including picking up or sweeping debris inside and outside the storefront, collecting shopping carts from the parking lot, and cleaning restrooms as required.
Operate a Point-of-Sale terminal to process all Guest transactions, including cash handling and applying coupons or discounts in accordance with company policy.
Participate in truck deliveries by unloading, stocking, and organizing inventory.
Maintain Responsible Vendor status throughout employment for alcohol & tobacco purchases while operating POS, wine taps or tasting tables by checking proper forms of identification for age verification.
Perform additional duties as assigned by store leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older.
At least 6 months to 1 year of experience, training, or knowledge in the wine or spirits industry, or involving the sale of fine wines or spirits. Any experience or exposure in a relevant retail or customer service environment is a plus.
The ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs demand.
General Requirements:
Maintain regular and predictable onsite attendance: All Team Members are expected to report to work
as scheduled and remain onsite for the duration of their shifts. Reliable onsite attendance is an essential
function of the job to ensure operational success and consistent service for our Guests.
Physical Requirements: (With or Without Accommodations)
Continuously: Standing and moving about for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more).
Frequently: Bending, lifting, and twisting (BLT) to move product and assist with merchandising.
Frequently: Lifting and/or transporting up to 40 lbs. throughout the store and stockroom.
Occasionally: Overhead lifting to place or retrieve items from high shelves.
Occasionally: Use of ladders and step stools to access merchandise stored at varying heights.
Frequently: Moving between sales floor, stockroom, and exterior areas of the store.
Vision Requirements: (With or Without Accommodations)
Frequently: Visually inspect product labels, signage, and displays to ensure accuracy and presentation.
Frequently: Detect and respond to visual cues such as Guest gestures, product placement, or safety hazards.
Work Environment:
Occasionally: Working in high, precarious places (e.g., ladders, stockroom).
Occasionally: Exposure to outdoor weather conditions while maintaining the property or assisting Guests.
Occasionally: Exposure to fumes or airborne particles when using cleaning solutions or supplies.
Occasionally: Exposure to refrigerated temperatures (32–41ºF) when stocking or retrieving product in the cooler.
Frequently: Moderate noise level in the work environment.
