Sales and Use Tax Accountant
Description Brittany Bui with Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented Sales and Use Tax Accountant to join our team in Lake Oswego, Oregon. This role involves managing multi-state tax compliance processes and ensuring accuracy in reporting across various jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations, advanced technical skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining compliance and addressing complex tax challenges. Responsibilities: • Oversee the accurate reporting, filing, and remittance of sales and use taxes across multiple states and jurisdictions. • Ensure compliance with state and local tax regulations by monitoring filing requirements and meeting deadlines. • Analyze tax data, reconcile discrepancies, and review filings to maintain accuracy and consistency. • Maintain detailed and organized tax records to meet regulatory standards and support audits. • Stay updated on changes to tax regulations and implement necessary adjustments to compliance processes. • Utilize tools such as Avalara/Avatax and advanced Microsoft Excel functions to manage data and reporting efficiently. • Collaborate with internal teams to align tax compliance efforts with overall organizational goals. • Conduct thorough audits and reviews to identify and resolve discrepancies in tax filings. • Provide expert guidance on multi-state tax compliance and navigate complex regulatory challenges. Job Order: 03600-0013236614 Requirements • A minimum of 3 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance within multi-state jurisdictions. • Proficiency in Avalara/Avatax software and advanced Microsoft Excel functions for analysis and reporting. • Strong understanding of accounting principles and auditing processes. • Ability to adapt to evolving tax regulations and implement changes effectively. • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills. • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders. • Familiarity with monthly sales tax reporting and returns processes. • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
