Opportunity currently exists for a Safety Officer to join Nestlé Southern Distribution Centre in Altona, VIC. In this role, the Safety Officer will ensure effective implementation and reporting of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) management system and drive a strong SHE culture and positive SHE performance.
**A day in the life…**
Reporting to the Distribution Centre Manager, key responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Implement site SHE management system to ensure the timely reporting of incidents, completion of investigations and corrective action closure.
• Support site management through reporting of SHE performance including lead and lag indicators.
• Identify, develop and implement site SHE improvement initiatives to improve site SHE performance.
• Ensure site SHE compliance to Nestlé Global Standards, 45001 & 14001 and legal requirements.
• Ensure site implementation of measuring and monitoring requirements e.g. inspections.
• Support visible SHE leadership on the shop floor by influencing management and leadership of SHE committee.
• Conduct and coordinate SHE training according to annual training plan and requirements.
**What will make you successful**
You will have a strong demonstrated experience in Safety, Health & Environment areas and will have:
• Tertiary qualification in safety, health and/or environmental areas or related field.
• Good understanding of safety and compliance.
• Must have a proactive approach in resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders and implementing agreeing corrective actions.
• Experience in risk management practices & routines.
• Analyse complex problems to identify multiple root causes.
• Translated policies & standards into practical action plans.
• Demonstrated commitment to keeping people safe and to protecting the environment.
• The right person must be proactive, thorough, and detailed, with a high level of relationship building.
