Safety Leader - Generator
Job Description SummaryThe Safety Leader - Generator is responsible for ensuring workplace safety by conducting incident investigations, developing safety guidelines, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role involves providing day-to-day EHS support, leading projects, and implementing programs to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead continuous improvement of EHS performance including OSHA & LTA reductions, emergency preparedness, site work plans, job safety analysis, ergonomics and process change management.Provide day-to-day safety and health support for the facility.Serve as a best practice/quality resource for the facility.Contribute to strategy and policy development based on the latest technical developments.Make decisions or solve complex tasks in operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.Act as a resource for colleagues throughout the facility.Leading projects in the HSE area according to corporate guidelines and implementing corporate solutions at the facility.Develop, implement, and maintain a program to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses.Supervising employee health and safety training and periodically conducting initial general training.Develop and maintain heat map for the Schenectady facility.Manage the Safety Department team.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college plus 4 years of experience in manufacturing safety or similar working environment, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 8 years of experience in manufacturing with an emphasis on safety roles.Experience and knowledge with OSHA policies and regulatory actions.Minimum of 1 year of experience in a management/supervision or project/program leadership role. 

Eligibility Requirements

Must be willing and able to do rotational on-call duties. This role requires on-call duties for 1 week approximately every 4 months. This would require 24/7 availability during this time to handle any calls or in the event of an emergency to go onsite as needed during this time. 

Desired Characteristics

Professional Safety Certification (e.g. ASP, CSP).Experienced with Safety Management Systems (I.E. ISO 45001)Able to drive safety culture in a matrixed environment.A change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization.Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this position is $113,100- $165,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 15% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. ​

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
