Job Description
The PSM Engineer ensures regulatory compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) rules. The successful candidate will implement a PSM safety management system in collaboration with operations, maintenance, engineering, and management teams.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with 14 Element Process Safety Management regulations and maintain audit readiness.Audit, maintain, and update Process Safety Information (PSI).Audit Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for accuracy and compliance.Lead Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) of specified processes and maintain schedules.Develop and facilitate Management of Change (MOC) review processes.Develop and facilitate Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) processes.Develop and audit the Mechanical Integrity (MI) Program with Facilities, Maintenance, and Engineering Teams.Provide leadership for PSSR action items and ensure timely closure.Audit contractors in covered process areas to ensure proper qualification.Audit processes for adherence to performance standards such as API and ANSI.Evaluate new or modified chemical engineering process designs against RAGAGEP, including pipe specifications, relief valve, and vent sizing basis.Conduct routine inspections of PSM elements to prevent deviations.Lead triennial Compliance Audits.Provide leadership for PSM-related audit findings, inspection issues, incidents/near miss corrective actions, and ensure timely closure.Lead PSM-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and help set goals and objectives for Continuous Improvement of PSM.Prepare and manage the annual budget for PSM-related activities.Anticipate regulatory changes or industry practices and assess their impact on business operations.Essential SkillsStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry standards such as ACGIH, NIOSH, and ANSI.Proficiency in MS Office Suite.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Problem-solving and analytical skills.Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation) and chemicals.Ability to work comfortably in a team setting.Skill in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports.Positive attitude, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills, and effectiveness in achieving goals.Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills.Ability to work flexible hours occasionally.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is required.At least 10 years of experience in a Process Safety Management or Chemical Engineering role.Professional certification or aspiration (ASP/CSP, CIH) is a plus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $92000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
