Safety Desk Supervisor
Description

We are currently on the lookout for an experienced Safety Desk Supervisor to join our elite team in Dorchester, MA. The Safety Desk Supervisor (SDS) is responsible for the provision of safety services to the Boston Public Schools Department of Transportation, Schools serviced by BPSDOT, Transdev (TD), and drivers requesting assistance. Safety Desk Supervisors are required to provide impeccable customer service to our clients and passengers.  As a key member, you will be entrusted with ensuring safe and comfortable transportation for our passengers, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.

       $27.65 per hour (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Pay rate)

Key Responsibilities: 

       Ensures RSS’s operate in strict compliance with the contract between BPS and Transdev.        Maximizes assets by efficient assignment of RSS's and Radio Cars to ensure adequate planned assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner.        Ensures all notifications are completed accurately, promptly, documented and dispersed to the proper parties.        Ensures timely follow-up and documentation is provided writing skills as needed.        Ensures staff are proficient with all equipment (radio, lap-top & safety vehicle) and applications, and instruct as necessary.        Demonstrates and ensures professional radio protocol.        Conducts monthly inspections of vehicles and associated equipment.        Maintains professional communication with BPSDOT, TD Operations and Maintenance, schools, public safety officials, and parents.        Follows protocols and best practices to ensure smooth operations and seamless transitions between personnel.        Attends monthly meetings to review performance objectives employee concerns.        Attends training courses when required.        Ability to work in a high paced environment and be able to make quick decisions.        Follows company policies and procedures.        Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:  

       21 years or older        High school diploma or equivalent, such as a G.E.D.          A minimum of one (1) year of dispatch and/or customer service experience.          Excellent communication & customer service skills.        Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed        General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft Office package.        Must be able to work as a member of the team.        Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.        Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.        Able to use multi-line phone system, radio, and handle multiple tasks concurrently.        Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

The essential functions of this position require the ability to: 

       Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently type and look at a computer screen        Most of the work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.        Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.        Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level        Tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
