Safety Data Analyst
SAFETY & EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT (Billings Clinic Main Campus)

Shift: Day, Evenings, Nights, Weekends
Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)
Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $29.08 - $36.34
Safety Data Analysts are required to work independently with minimal supervision and are responsible for continual analysis, development, maintenance, improvement, and evaluation of safety data system metrics.. Works collectively with others to analyze and interpret safety-related data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement in workplace safety. Responsible for providing administrative support for the department, including scheduling, data analysis, research, data illustration, and reporting.
Essential Job Functions
• Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
• Provides administrative support for the department, including but not limited to:
• Arranging meetings and preparing agendas, meeting notices, and presentation materials.
• Attend and transcribe meeting minutes
• Appropriate supply maintenance.
• Site, material, and equipment preparation for events, meetings, educational offerings, and presentations.
• Gathers, compiles, and validates safety data from various internal and external sources.
• Conducts statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in health and safety data.
• Maintains and enhances systems and databases to improve data quality and accessibility.
• Summarizes safety information for formal presentation, including interpretation of data and supporting recommendations based on findings.
• Identifies the data required and the internal/external means to gather that data. Prepares quantitative and qualitative analyses within required deadlines, adhering to Billings Clinic safety policies and procedures.
• Identifies end user needs for information and designs, implements, and monitors systems that collect the information.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for leadership, department management, and appropriate staff regarding the inter-relationships of data.
• Takes a proactive approach to identifying problems and opportunities and recommending solutions that support the strategic direction of the department or the organization.
• Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess departmental and organizational gaps in performance and identify ways to improve quality and reduce waste.
• Identifies individual educational needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational skill requirements and departmental knowledge requirements.
• Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency environmental, employee, or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree and some computer course work from an appropriately accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
• One (1) year of progressively responsible professional experience or safety experience related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
• Experience compiling and analyzing Health and Safety data is strongly preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of:
Analysis of data related to safety compliance and audit reporting
Safety Injury/Illness metrics (i.e., DART, LTI, Severity, OSHA 300 Logs, etc.)
Applicable Safety Reporting Systems (i.e., OHM, Enterprise, Walsh Integrated, or similar Safety Program applications)
• A broad understanding of the business processes of the assigned area of responsibility.
