SAFETY COORDINATOR
What Will You Do?
The Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting Ashley's comprehensive safety program across all facilities. This position ensures compliance with regulatory and company safety standards while promoting a secure environment for all employees and Ashley property. The Safety Coordinator conducts safety investigations, maintains training programs and records, develops and facilitates various safety training sessions, and performs safety audits. This role requires close collaboration with the Worker's Compensation Department to review and investigate work-related injury claims.

Primary Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Policy Management
Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations and company safety standards Update company safety policies and procedures according to regulatory changes Advise management on regulatory issues and support abatement of violations Conduct monthly supervisor safety training sessions Review photos/videos for potential regulatory violations Facilitate new employee orientation (NEO) safety presentationsTraining Program Development & Delivery
Develop, schedule, and facilitate comprehensive safety training programs including: Authorized Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) classes Personal Industrial Vehicle (PIV) training Confined Space safety presentations Fall Protection training Ladder Safety training Particulate Respirator training Hot Works Permit training Overhead Hoist Safety training Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions for Mentor/Certifiers Schedule and coordinate specialized training for employees unable to attend regular sessionsSafety Assessments & Investigations
Investigate accidents and conduct injury investigations with follow-up Perform Level 2 and Level 3 Machine Assessments Conduct Machine Modification Reviews and PPE Assessments Complete Hazardous Energy Assessments and Task-Based Risk Assessments Perform LOTO audits and ODSC audits Evaluate walking and working surfaces, ergonomics, and machine guardingEmployee Relations & Support
Meet with employees regarding safety issues and concerns Resolve employee safety complaints with appropriate follow-up Provide first aid assistance, evaluate injuries, and transport employees to medical facilities when necessary Address safety concerns proactively to maintain positive employee relationsAdministrative & Coordination Functions
Maintain safety training records and documentation Collaboration with Worker's Compensation Department on injury reviews Manage chemical inventory processes Create LOTO, Standard Work Procedures (SWP), and Alternative Measures documents Schedule annual equipment inspections (fire extinguishers, alarms, sprinkler systems) Coordinate audiometric testing and hearing protection programs Order safety supplies through MRO and Purchasing departments Maintain reliable attendance and participate in departmental meetings Assist with training other employees and provide backup coverage Fill in for Medical Technician or Security as needed Complete special projects and assignments as requested Demonstrate Ashley's Core and Growth Values in all job functions
What Do You Need?
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational health and safety or related field, OR equivalent work experienceExperience
Minimum 6 months’ experience in manufacturing health & safetyCertifications
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Technical Knowledge:
OSHA laws and regulations Worker's Compensation laws (state-specific) Accident investigation procedures Safety audit programs for manufacturing Global Harmonization System (GHS) Continuous Improvement toolsSkills:
Excellent verbal and written communication Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills Analytical and problem-solving abilities Effective time management and organizational skills Proficient computer skills (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) Ability to read and interpret government regulations
