Job Title: Safety Coordinator

Job Description

As a Safety Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This position is essential to the commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.

ResponsibilitiesLead and drive the safety committee and all associated activities, schedule and drive monthly and quarterly safety meetings.Monitor potential health and safety conditions in the workplace; identify problems, recommend solutions, and ensure ongoing safety systems are updated in concurrence with the safety committee.Develop and maintain records for safety programs including training logs, reports, and inspections.Facilitate investigations of near-misses, accidents, and injury/illness root causes.Conduct annual Safety and Environmental training as required by federal, state, and local regulations.Ensure the development and updating of required written safety and health programs, plans, and policies such as IIPP and EHS programs like hazard communication, exposure control, PPE, respiratory protection, chemical hygiene, Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, and emergency action plans.Support management in the implementation of safety plans.Respond to emergency calls regarding injuries, accidents, and alarm systems.Follow all aspects of Maintenance safety Protocol to ensure that the maintenance team operates safely at all times.Order and sustain all safety supplies.Maintain and complete all mandatory federal, state, and city reports and forms concerning EHS.Manage wastewater and air emissions.Conduct EH&S audits to eliminate or control hazardous conditions and take required samples and measurements.Perform periodic inspections of hazardous waste storage areas to ensure compliance and disposal.Manage, maintain, and improve EHS Management Systems documentation, communications, and record retention.Organize and maintain work request entries and monitor activities.Recommend countermeasures to prevent repetitive breakdowns.Submit quote requests for subcontractors in the repair of production and facility equipment.Order repair parts and supplies.Facilitate maintenance KPIs to upper management.Essential Skills2+ years of experience within the Environmental Health and Safety field in a manufacturing industry setting.Knowledge and understanding of environmental, health & safety regulations, principles, and practices with regulatory training as necessary.Familiarity with CAL-OSHA, CAL-EPA, DOT, NFPA.Knowledge of handling hazardous waste.Demonstrated project management, planning, team building, and organizational skills.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Proficiency in using power and hand tools.Ability to work within specific timelines, meeting critical deadlines.Knowledge of safe operation procedures including Lockout/Tagout.Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and maintaining databases.Work Environment

The work environment consists of an ITAR facility spread over five buildings, with the main office staff located in a two-story building. The first floor is split between a manufacturing shop and office, while the second floor houses only offices. The role involves spending about 60% of time in the office and 40% on the shop floor to manage inventory and connect with engineering and manufacturing managers. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
