The Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and managing workplace health and safety programs across the facility. This role oversees employee safety training, incident prevention, audits, and compliance. The position also manages Workers’ Compensation cases, including reporting, documentation, and coordination with medical and insurance providers.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct new hire safety orientations (English & Spanish), including training on PPE, powered equipment, and safety procedures. Perform ongoing training assessments and document completion and compliance. Lead daily/weekly safety training for warehouse employees; reinforce safe work behaviors. Monitor and document machine guarding, lockout/tagout, ergonomics, and powered industrial truck programs. Manage Workers' Compensation program:- Coordinate with injured associates, providers, and insurance
- Maintain injury documentation and reporting
- Track cases using injury dashboards and logs Conduct routine facility and safety inspections; identify and correct hazards. Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions. Maintain SDS binders and ensure accurate chemical hazard communication. Support safety committee and employee engagement activities. Track and report safety data, including OSHA rates, trends, and audit findings. Coordinate quarterly food safety audits and ergonomic initiatives. Qualifications: · Experience in workplace safety, risk management, or warehouse operations · Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred · Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety audits · Strong organizational and communication skills · Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with safety tracking tools or systems a plus · OSHA 30 certification or willingness to complete Expanded Responsibilities Based on Training Plan: Coordinate bilingual (English/Spanish) safety orientation and training for all new hires, including documentation of PPE, forklift, and hazard communication. Administer and track online training modules, in-person assessments, and retraining as needed. Oversee training assignments and update records for job-specific safety needs, certifications, and annual renewals. Facilitate training on Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PIT, PPE, First Aid/CPR, Fire Extinguisher, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Conduct risk assessments and provide safety reinforcement for high-risk activities such as confined space entry, hot work, and chemical handling. Ensure proper signage, labeling, and hazard communication throughout the facility. Review daily behavior-based safety (BBS) data and identify trends to reduce risk. Monitor and support machine guarding compliance, including ergonomic improvements and modifications. Lead and document accident investigations; communicate corrective actions and follow-ups to prevent recurrence. Prepare monthly safety inspection reports and quarterly facility walk-throughs to ensure continuous compliance. Coordinate employee return-to-work programs and accommodations following injuries. Maintain SDS binders and electronic server access, ensuring accurate chemical hazard documentation. Support communication efforts by distributing safety topics, OSHA data, and injury statistics to the workforce. Engage with safety committee meetings, slotting committee reviews, and employee feedback programs. Manage compliance with OSHA 30-hour training and track continuing education including safety summits and conferences.
