Position Highlights:

The Safety Compliance Coordinator (SCC) maintains a safe environment for all patients, guests, and team members by conducting regular safety audits of all patient care and non-patient areas throughout the entire McKinley Campus (and satellite locations). Findings are documented and reported to department heads for corrective action. The SCC monitors improvements to ensure sustainability. The SCC is responsible for oversight of the Safety Management Plan and serves as a safety resource to McKinley campus departments. The SCC monitors the Center's compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Monitors the Center's compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Evaluates safety related data and develops plans and objectives to proactively improve/correct safety related conditions and/or identified problems. Evaluates and determines impact of changing regulations. May serve as a support representative during regulatory agencies surveys and accompany official inspectors during surveys. Performs risk assessments to gather information on safety issues. Monitors staff to evaluate if health and safety laws are being followed

 

Responsible for the day-today safety related activities and compliance with the

Safety and Emergency Management Plans.

Provides recommendations for improving safety in the Workplace Performs self-initiated audits, involving informal safety inspections, report completion, and current up to date safety deficiency documentation. Conducts hazardous surveillance inspections and inspections after action reports. Conducts investigations into claims for damage or onsite  accidents, including injury arising out of safety incidents; identifies possible causes. Maintains documentation of the company's safety procedures,  accidents and related events. Attends safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks. Identifies safety-training needs and develop action plans to complete training. Provides safety training focused on departmental-specific  orientation processes, safety-related competencies, and new equipment and/or processes.

 

Maintains current inspection reports and safety deficiency database

Compiles safety data and draws conclusions to improve performance, identifies and reacts to trends. Interact with Risk Management through inspection safety rounding and identified deficiencies. Provide support and coordination of Safety Committee Meetings

Serves as Safety Officer, liaisons between the department and the Safety

Oversight Committee

Assists management in the identification of high-risk departmental processes. Supports management to resolve departmental safety issues, including but not limited to: Investigation and corrective action for safety reports, root cause analysis, failure mode effect analysis,input received from safety rounds including but not limited to:  Executive Patient Safety Rounds, Environmental Safety Rounds

Monitor all activities provide guidance and assistance as needed and complete reports as requested by Director of Environment of Care

Serves as Deputy Safety Officer in the absence of the Safety Manager

The Ideal Candidate:

Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety Programs including applicable standards. A broad base knowledge and understanding of safety issues and applicability of all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies including healthcare coalitions and public safety agencies. Experience in monitoring of operations to eliminate or reduce exposure of hazardous activities. Experience with software and safety related checklists. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines. Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback. Knowledge of hazard analysis and accident investigation processes

 Credentials and Qualifications:

Associate degree required. Four (4) years of hospital safety experience is required. A broad base knowledge and understanding of safety issues and applicability of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies involved with safety management such as the Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, etc.

**In lieu of an associate degree, an additional 2 years for a total of six (6) years of relevant hospital, life safety and environment of care experience may be substituted**
