RPG Developer
Job Description As a Software Engineer, you will participate in all aspects of the Software Development lifecycle by supporting their proprietary financial applications including Account Payable and receivable, General ledger, and Electronic Matching systems. You will troubleshoot issues as they occur while also developing new software modules across multiple small to medium projects concurrently. You will have an opportunity to lead the design of certain software components and suggest new products, applications, and features based on industry and technological trends and advances. You will also consult with process owners in reviewing, interpreting and developing systems in accordance with user requirements. You will be responsible to work with business and develop financial applications modernization roadmap. You will be working with a diverse team and mentoring junior software engineers.  • Support and serve as primary contact for multiple IBM i–based financial applications (AP/AR, GL, Matching Systems).  • Participate in the full SDLC: design, develop, test, deploy, and support software components.  • Troubleshoot system issues, perform production support, and respond to user inquiries.  • Develop new software modules across several small–medium concurrent projects.  • Design backend database schemas and write/maintain optimized SQL in DB2.  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and unit/UI tests; use CI/CD for builds and deployments.  • Work with business users, internal stakeholders, and external vendors to understand requirements and deliver solutions.  • Mentor junior developers and review offshore team code/tasks.  • Assist with on-call support during critical failures.  • Contribute to decisions around standards, tools, design patterns, and modernization initiatives.  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, etc.) and ensure work meets sprint commitments.  • Conduct interviews for new hires as needed. Skills and Requirements • 8–10 years of development experience on IBM i systems.  • Strong hands-on experience with RPG/400, RPG FREE, ILE, CL, CLLE, SQLRPGLE, DB2/SQL, DBU.  • Experience designing and implementing relational databases.  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.  • Experience with Agile methodology and tools like Jira/Confluence.  • Understanding of web services (REST/SOA) and data formats (XML/JSON).  • Full Software Development Lifecycle experience. Ability to participate in on-call rotation for critical issues.
