Description We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Route Account Settlement Clerk to join our team in Newport News, Virginia. This Contract-to-Permanent position is ideal for someone with strong accounting and data entry skills who thrives in a fast-paced work environment. The role involves ensuring the accuracy of route sales and deposits, maintaining meticulous records, and collaborating with various departments to ensure smooth daily operations. Responsibilities: • Reconcile and post daily route sales and deposits to ensure all accounts are balanced before finalizing sales. • Input invoices and process customer and route adjustments accurately and on time. • Verify the accuracy of route sales bank deposits and confirm all sales tickets are accounted for across routes and branches. • Collaborate with plant shipping managers and branch managers to ensure all daily paperwork is processed efficiently. • Communicate any route-related issues to the department manager in a timely manner. • Perform data entry tasks with precision to maintain accurate records. • Organize and maintain customer files to ensure easy retrieval and orderly storage. • Process and transfer data between handheld devices and the server to facilitate seamless information updates. Requirements • At least 1 year of experience in an accounting or clerical role. • Proficiency in account reconciliation and invoice processing. • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy. • Familiarity with accounts payable (AP) procedures. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting. • Experience working with AS400 or similar systems. • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and address issues effectively. • Strong organizational abilities to manage files and prioritize tasks.
