HDR is hiring a Roadway and Infrastructure Lighting Engineer for our Florida Transportation Group to create safe and efficient lighting systems for roads, highways, tunnels, and other public infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities

Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess the existing lighting conditions, review as-built conditions of the existing lighting control centers for available capacity and utilizationDesign, specify, and oversee the production of roadway and infrastructure lighting systems plansUse computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed plans and modelsEnsure all lighting designs comply with relevant standards and regulations published by FDOT, FHWA, and local governmentsAssess the environmental impact of lighting designs and aim to minimize light pollutionWork closely with contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects are completed to specificationPrepare technical reports, design documentation, and project proposalsStay up to date with the latest advancements in lighting technology and design trendsAddress any concerns or complaints related to lighting, and adjust as necessaryReview plans and design documents prepared by others. Perform Quality Control review of in-house projects and serve as the QC engineer for the lighting plans prepared by the client’s in-house forces

Preferred Qualifications

Skills in electrical load analysis and voltage drop computations, lighting control panelboard sizing, associated with heavy to medium transportation/highway projects including bridges, box girder maintenance lighting, generator sizing for electrical power backup of electrical substationsProficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Agi32 programsStrong verbal and written skillsPE with concentration in the electrical engineering examination domainUnderstanding and ability to interpret NEC, NESC and OSHA CFR rulesPrevious experience in electrical design of buildingsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems) Professional Engineer (PE) license Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy PowerAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
