Road Safety Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Road Safety Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, supporting road safety initiatives across major infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in conducting road safety audits, analyzing accident data, and recommending safety improvements in accordance with MOT (Ministry of Transport) and GCC road safety standards.
Conduct Road Safety Audits (RSA) at all project stages—feasibility, preliminary design, detailed design, construction, and post-construction.
Review roadway and traffic design plans to identify potential safety concerns.
Analyze crash and accident data, traffic flow, and road user behavior to identify high-risk locations and propose improvements.
Recommend engineering countermeasures such as improved signage, road markings, lighting, pedestrian crossings, and traffic calming measures.
Ensure compliance with Saudi road safety standards, including those from MOT, Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA), and international best practices (e.g., iRAP, AASHTO, FHWA).
Coordinate with municipal, government, and private stakeholders to ensure safety considerations are integrated into transportation projects.
Prepare detailed safety reports, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
Support road safety awareness campaigns and provide input into public education strategies.
Participate in vision zero or safe system planning initiatives where applicable.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (e.g., Saudi Council of Engineers registration) is preferred.
Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience in road safety, traffic engineering, or transportation planning.
Prior experience working in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly desirable.
Certified Road Safety Auditor (e.g., iRAP, IRF, or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Synchro, SIDRA, or GIS tools for safety analysis.
Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus).
Strong knowledge of Saudi traffic laws, road design manuals, and safety assessment guidelines.
Ability to interpret and apply MOT, Ashghal, or GCC traffic standards.
Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting findings to clients or government entities.
Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
