Plastic Surgery, both reconstructive and cosmetic, is dedicated to the restoration of function and form. Cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery have the power to repair, restore and renew the body’s form and function. As an Operating Room Service Assistant, you will assist in transporting patients and setting up the Operating Room.

Caregivers in this role will work a full-time position. Call and schedules will be reviewed during interviews. Shifts will not be assigned until after orientation. Orientation lasts 6 months from Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Participate in a residency curriculum based on surgery core learning needs. Provide direct nursing care, alongside a coach, in accordance with established healthcare organization policies, procedures and protocols. Establish and revise priorities for patient care activities based on acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability. Initiate and maintain interventions to assure continuity of safe and effective care for patients. Respond to data indicating risk to individual's health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent the risk. Seek supervision, consultation, assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. Comply with established hospital and department personnel policies. Use communication strategies intended to achieve desirable outcomes and a perception of satisfaction by those involved. Document a patient's medical record according to established guidelines. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursingCurrent state license as a Registered Nurse (RN)Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)New graduate or less than one year RN work experience OR if experience RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one-year current acute direct patient care RN experience. 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
