Cleveland Clinic’s internationally renowned Cole Eye Institute is entering an exciting new chapter with the opening of the 150,000-square-foot Jeffrey and Patricia Cole Building, featuring eight modern operating rooms, advanced imaging capabilities and dedicated research space. As an OR nurse in this state-of-the-art center for ophthalmic surgery, you’ll support a wide spectrum of procedures—from cosmetic and reconstructive oculofacial surgeries to complex cataract, corneal and transplant operations. You’ll be part of a team performing thousands of life-changing surgeries each year, playing a vital role in redefining what’s possible in eye care and helping patients preserve and restore their sight with extraordinary skill, innovation and compassion.
Cleveland Clinic specializes in comprehensive surgical services for populations of all ages. As a member of this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care during all aspects of the surgical process - pre, during surgery, and post. You will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
This is a full-time position. A caregiver in this role will work 40 hours per week during day shifts. Call is required and will be rotated for weekend and evening hours.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures. Perform scrub and circulating functions. Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red CrossOne year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross within six months of hirePreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.
