The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of thenursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. TheSchool RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of studentswithin the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promotingthe health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronicconditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff andhealthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state ofemployment Bachelor’s Degree, preferred School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract One year of school nursing, public health or pediatricexperience, preferred Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice Current CPR if applicable TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Must be at least 18 years of age w-2 full benefits weekly pay Constant monitoring/assessment/interpretation/assistance with/of possible needs: Intervention for Seiure Activity (Hx Subclinical-Minor-Major) Follow Care Plan for use of rescue Rx) Safety/Fall precautions Communicate (phone call) to Primary parent of that day for any seizure activity. Basic Needs Meals/Hydration (oral) Toileting Rest RN partnership with 1:1 Para Educator who is the primary keeper of school activities/schedules. Intervention as needed when possible client medical needs are in conflict with educational needs.
