Certified School Nurse (RN) – Special Education Towson, MD | Full-Time | Through June 2026 (Temp-to-Perm Possible) Location: Towson, MD 21286 Start Date: ASAP Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM (35 hours/week) Feedback Time: 24–48 hours About the Role The Certified School Nurse (CSN) plays an essential role in supporting the health and success of students within a special education environment. This position focuses on identifying, treating, and monitoring student health conditions, promoting wellness, and ensuring students are physically able to participate in school activities. The School Nurse will provide health education, maintain medical documentation, and collaborate with staff and families to support students’ overall wellbeing. This assignment is at a specialized K–12 day school serving students ages 4–21 with academic, behavioral, and life-skills needs. Key Responsibilities + Assess students’ physical health needs and provide direct nursing care in the school setting. + Administer medications, treatments, and emergency care as needed. + Monitor chronic health conditions and develop care plans. + Promote disease prevention and general health education. + Maintain up-to-date student health records in compliance with federal, state, and school regulations. + Communicate with families, teachers, and administration regarding medical needs. + Provide specialized nursing support to students in special education programs. Minimum Requirements + Current RN license for the state of Maryland. + School Nurse Certification or Credential (required). + Minimum 1 year of school nursing experience (required). + Experience working with special education students (preferred, ideally 1 year). + Pediatric experience preferred. + Current CPR certification, if applicable. + TB test/PPD or chest x-ray, if applicable. + Valid health certificate (per contract/state regulations). + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements. + Must be at least 18 years old.
