**Job Description:** Floor 11 is the Orthopedic, Trauma and Urology Unit or the “Bones and Stones” Team! This unit provides exceptional, patient centered care to a variety of surgical and medical patients. We are the only Level 1 trauma center north of Minneapolis, so we serve a wide geographical area. Orthopedic patients range from patients with a single broken bone, to poly traumas that have sustained multiple injuries. We also care for extremity vascular patients that have wounds and progress to interventions such as amputations. Urology patients also come in with a wide spectrum of issues such as hydronephrosis from kidney stones to patients who have had their bladder or kidney removed. This units supports the other medical surgical units with admissions. It is one of the only units where staff learn to navigate a mix of both the surgical and medical patient needs as most of our patients have multiple co-morbidities as well as their injuries. This unit also has its own therapy team and gym to assist patients with mobilization and strengthening. It is a great unit to learn critical thinking for all levels of nursing experience. We love to have new hires on the unit and are focused on ensuring we have great teamwork and communication to support each team member. There is always someone who “has your back” – whether you are a new nurse or an experienced RN, there is always a co-worker or team to assist with questions, situations or concerns.
