Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)
Location: Des Moines, IA
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: January 5, 2026
Shift: Days, Mon–Fri, 4x10s with rotating day off; On-call required
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room RN to join a Level 1 Trauma Center team. This role involves circulating and, ideally, scrub experience in a fast-paced surgical environment. Expect high-volume cases and quick turnovers.
Key Responsibilities
+ Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments using aseptic techniques.
+ Set up OR rooms, instruments, and supplies according to facility standards.
+ Assist surgical teams during procedures; respond promptly to directions.
+ Perform and document instrument and sponge counts per policy.
+ Maintain surgeon preference cards and OR supply inventory.
+ Communicate effectively with staff and maintain patient confidentiality.
+ Adhere to all regulatory standards and facility policies.
Requirements
+ Current RN license (state of practice).
+ Minimum 2 years recent OR experience (circulating required; scrub preferred).
+ Proficiency in general, robotics, pediatrics, and trauma cases.
+ Current BLS certification.
+ EPIC EMR experience within the last 3 years.
+ Physical ability to meet job demands.
+ Health certificate, PPD or chest X-ray (if applicable).
Additional Details
+ Specialties: Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho Trauma, Robotics, GYN, Urology, Transplants.
+ Facility: 16 OR suites; average 35–50 cases/day.
+ Equipment: Da Vinci robots, Stealth neuro navigation.
+ On-Call: Up to 1 overnight/week and 3 weekends per contract.
+ Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of 3 major winter holidays.
+ Travel Policy: Locals within 50 miles accepted (rate adjustment applies).
