Responsibilities

As a RN at CHI LakeWood Health, you will implement the nursing process across the continuum of care by providing and coordinating patient care, education, and emotional support to patients and their family members.

Every day you will work with our patients to evaluate their needs and provide physical or psychosocial care.  To be successful in this role, you must have a genuine compassion for your patients’ well-being and understand the role you play in helping our our patients feel at ease. You also have the patience to explain the process, answer questions and update documentation.

Essential Functions

Responsible for the daily care of the patient including assessments, treatments, medications, education and discharge planning.  Develops, implements and modifies the patient care plan as indicated by patient’s conditions and responses.  Uses multidisciplinary team strategies to resolve patient problemsAdminister medications using bar code scanningRespectful and effective communication with all patient populations, physicians, and across all areas of continuum of careMaintains safe and clean working environment by complying with Safe Patient Handling techniquesMaintains continuity among nursing teams by accurate hand off and documentation in the EMRKnowledge of and implementation of isolation techniquesEnsures operation of equipment by completing competency checklists; sequestering and completing appropriate TEAM requests for malfunctioning equipment.  Evaluates new equipment, follows safety guidelines for clinical devicesAssures quality of care by adhering to quality control requirementsInitiation and Management of IV therapy; safely administers blood and blood products per facility protocolMaintains professional and technical knowledge by completion of LEARN assignments, attending mandatory in-services, annual competencies, and educational assignments to maintain and further the profession of nursing and personal growthMaintains acceptable clinical standards (AORN, AAMI, APIC, ACS, etc.)Demonstrates professionalism when working with physicians and other providersDependable for scheduled shiftsFacilitates and assists in the coordination of patient discharge and referralsParticipates in the orientation and training of new personnel Directs and supervises less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnelDirects and supervises less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnelOn call every 4th weekend, every 4th holiday, and one to two days weeklyAbility to work with a wide variety of people and educational backgroundsAnalytical skillsProficient computer skills, advanced excelAbility to work on a variety of assignmentsAbility to work independentlyExcellent verbal and written communication skills neededFlexibility and ability to adjust to changeMust be within 20 minutes of hospital when on call
Qualifications

Registered Nurse Degree from a recognized college or university

Registered Nurse: MN (RN:MN)

Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
