RN Lactation Consultant II

At IU Health West, Indiana's #1 healthcare system, we invite compassionate and dedicated nurses to join us as a Part-Time RN Lactation Consultant II. In this fulfilling role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting new families as they embark on their breastfeeding journeys. By providing essential infant feeding services through both inpatient and outpatient care, you can make a genuine difference in the lives of mothers and their babies.

Key Responsibilities:

Offer comprehensive lactation support to families, helping them establish and maintain effective breastfeeding practices. Develop and implement innovative programs aimed at raising awareness about our lactation services. Create engaging educational materials tailored to a variety of audiences, promoting breastfeeding education and resources. Utilize your clinical expertise in assessment, diagnosis, planning, and evaluation to meet the unique needs of each patient and family. Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care that achieves desired outcomes and fosters a supportive environment. Participate in decision-making processes, provide mentorship, and support the professional development of your team members. Uphold the highest standards of nursing practice in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

Location: IU Health West, Avon, IN

Position Type: Part-Time (24 hours per week), Day Shift (days vary)

Qualifications:

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN). Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) or be certified within one year of hire. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Requires background working with childbearing families or maternal health nursing.
